The industry's future skills needs

An impressive number of hospitality educators took part in the second webinar of the 2023 EUHOFA's series of May 17th, hosted by Prof. Peter. A Jones.

After a short presentation, the webinar continued with a moderated roundtable discussion of vijfe hospitality educators drawn from EUHOFA member schools. The webinar concludes with an opportunity for the participants to pose questions and take part in the discussion.

The general sense and reactions from the webinar were that the issues raised are important and very relevant to hospitality education and its future, and participants would like to be engaged in follow-up discussions.

As discussed at the end of the webinar, there are a number of areas that could be further explored in future webinars. The panel will be considering which themes seem to be emerging from the session and looking to expand opportunities for participants to be able to actively engage in the discussions. This could be through breakout rooms and/or arranging a series of different types of online meetings.

Prof. Jones is the Academic Director eHotelier, Chair of the Professional Review Panel for the Institute of Hospitality, Board Adviser to the International Association of Hotel Schools (EUHOFA), and a trustee of the Savoy Educational Trust. He is the Chair of Crumbs, a disability charity that provides hospitality, education, and training for adults with learning and mental health disabilities.
