EUHOFA PEARLS

Besides student exchanges, the school finds it important that each year teachers go on International internships. This past year several teachers have done International internships at Hotels and visited International schools abroad. Some went to England, some went to Spain and others went to the USA and Mexico. To make this easy, we make use of our Euhofa network. Throughout the year there are different initiatives and projects between our school and other Euhofa member schools.

A nice example of this, is the visit of 20 practical teachers from our ROC Mondriaan International Hotel & Management School in The Hague, to Hotelfachschule Heidelberg in Germany, in October of this year. Our Euhofa friend Martin Dannenmann was proud to showed our colleagues his school and its latest innovations, and additionally the German educational system was explained.

Another example: In November 4 colleagues and 10 students visited the Beijing Foreign Affair School in China. The students experienced and learned a lot from this visit. Additionally they befriended 10 Chinese students, who in turn visited our school in The Netherlands. The click was there and friendships were made for life. Both schools made a real effort to make this week a ‘’life changing experience’’ for the students and teachers! These kinds of projects are only possible on basis of true friendship and trust. These friendships are built in EUHOFA international.

Such projects we call our “Euhofa pearls”!

In the Spring, our school will celebrate its 40th anniversary! We are going to make this a real happening, the way only the Dutch can celebrate. For this we want to invite a few International chefs/ Masters in craftsmanship to organize a three day journey for students in the profession. During the EUHOFA congress in Lausanne we have approached several schools to participate in this. People are enthusiastic and the Culinary Art School in Tijuana, Mexico has already promised to send a “top chef” and “barista master” to shine with the Dutch chefs and students.

In short, what would we do without an International Euhofa network to rely on?

From The Hague we wish you a wonderful 2019 (and a Merry Christmas). Let’s toast to a year full of Hospitality Experiences and let’s share these! Please send your great stories of new innovations or International exchanges or anything other exiting news about your schools.

You can use the EUHOFA connector app: EUHOFA Connector , on your phone, but we will also place your input onto the Euhofa website for all members to see.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline van der Zwan

Director ROC Mondriaan International Hotel & Management School
